D&R projects: what they are and when to use them
Start a separate D&R project for post-install detach, reset, damage, or insurance work.
A D&R project is a separate post-install service project. Creating one leaves the original install project unchanged.
When to use D&R
Use a D&R project when an existing customer's installed system needs detach-and-reset or damage-related work, for example:
- Panels must be detached for roof work and reset afterward.
- A hail or wind event may have damaged the system.
- An insurer needs an estimate, repair record, or completion package.
- A post-install inspection requires corrective work outside the original install closeout.
Do not use D&R for a new financed install, unfinished work that belongs to the original project, or an unmatched pre-sale storm lead. Find the existing customer and project first.
Start from Storm follow-up
Use this option when the storm impact is linked to the customer.
Open the follow-up
Go to Storm & Outreach → Storm → Follow-ups and open the affected customer.
Choose Convert to D&R Project
This action is unavailable if that storm impact has already created a project.
Review the new project
Confirm the project name and choose a workflow template if one is offered. Carrier name and claim number are optional.
Create the D&R project
SunrAI creates a new D&R project, links it to the storm impact, and opens it.
Start from an existing install project
Use this option when the customer's original install is already in SunrAI.
Open the install project
Go to Projects and open the original install.
Choose Convert to D&R
The action is available when the Storm module is enabled and the install does not already have a linked D&R project.
Add claim details if available
Carrier name and claim number are optional. If SunrAI did not manage the original install, mark its history as imported or incomplete when that option is shown.
Create the D&R project
SunrAI creates a new, separate D&R project. The original project remains unchanged.
If there is no original install in SunrAI, an authorized user can create a standalone D&R project from New Project.
What the new project includes
- A new project for the same customer, starting at Not Started.
- A link to the original install when you started conversion from that project.
- D&R phases and tasks when a team workflow template is applied.
- Insurance claim details when you provide them.
- A link to the storm impact when you started from Storm follow-up.
Check the new project for a workflow. If it has no phases or tasks, apply your team's D&R project template. SunrAI prevents a second active D&R project from being created from the same source install.
Troubleshooting
"Convert to D&R is missing." — Confirm that the Storm module is enabled, that you opened an install project, and that it does not already have a linked D&R project.
"The D&R project has no phases or tasks." — Apply your team's D&R project template from the new project.
"The claim fields are empty." — Carrier and claim details are optional. Add them from the D&R project's insurance tools.
"I started from the wrong customer." — Stop before adding more work. The new project uses the customer you selected; it does not merge duplicate customer records.
